Holy Week is Upon Us
I’ve taken a breather from social media during Lent and it’s been very humbling. Nothing magnifies your vices like sacrifice paired with deeper reliance on the Lord. I’ve seen new layers of myself during this season, some good and some ugly. Each one reminding me of my need for mercy and grace. I always love that Lent reveals new places that maybe we thought we put to rest, others that we thought we had a handle on, others brand new and now in the mix of our spiritual make-up. All of it shows our true need for the Lord.
One phrase that has come to me throughout this season is the phrase, “Let ME be your help.” The Lord wants to be our help, our father, our hope, our everything. Self-reliance can be so deceiving. When life is smooth sailing, self-reliance can feel like all we need, but we look deeper into parts of our life that need those extra bits of peace and prayer, and clarity comes.
When thinking about life after divorce and in a blended family, reliance on the Lord is our most peaceful bet. We pray for protection over our children when they are under another roof, we pray for the real healing that can restore our broken hearts, and we pray for surrender to what the future holds and how to trust during the in-between. Reliance on the Lord is the glue that keeps us moving forward. Lent reminded me of this and as we enter Holy Week, I am keeping that my focus. Letting the one who died for me be my source for all. My prayers are with all of you as we prepare for Easter.
